The Wine Society - Pinotage 2003

This one is a good one! South African Pinotage is still one of my favourite reds. Although very much on the sweet side, almost jam like, it is absolutely delicious and probably the most easy drinking red around. This is the first slightly older one that I have tried of this grape variety and I have to say it is very good. Next time I'd buy a case of this if I had that wine cellar.... one day!

I had a bottle of that on Wednesday.

That wine was a bargain. It's an Estate wine from L'Avenir Estate made by top winemaker Francois Naude.

I saw him last week; he told me it was made from young vines that just missed out on being selected for the normal Estate bottling.

Unfortunately the Wine Soc have sold out of that wine; L'Avenir was afterwards sold in 2005 to French company Laroche, deregistered as an Estate and Francois retired...

I now have 5 bottles left -- I did buy a case :)
